Week 8: Exterior Framing Complete

Nelson's guys finished to the point where we could get our roof done this week.  We came up with an interesting way to frame the skylights to keep the opening bigger in the middle of the house.

Week 7: Framing continues

Framing continues as the house begins to take shape.  The trusses arrived this week so getting the roof on really helps to realize the shape of the house.

Week 6: Principal framing begins

Miguel's team has begun the slowish task of getting the first floor floor ready.  Once planned and properly executed, the rest of the house should pop up until we get to the roof and have to wait in line for our trusses. Meanwhile, we continue to clean out the basement now that it's safe to work there.

Week 5: Foundation work continues

Luckily Poland is not faring well in the World Cup... Thom's guys were able to work on the walls last week - bringing the 1st floor ceiling height level to 9 feet, and installing angle irons where we will need window openings cut out.  We will wait to cut those out until the framing is done - thereby allowing for more stable and secure masonry walls.  We also had the make the executive decision to remove (well, remove, replace, remove, replace, remove, replace), the many layers of subfloor on the existing part of the house.  Talk about a plethora of screws, nails, glue, plywood etc etc etc!
